Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome!

My name is Sandra Alvarez, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. (hablo español!) I have 7 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. As a proud first-generation Mexican American, I am deeply committed to serving the Latinx community and creating spaces where individuals and families feel truly understood and supported.

I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Palo Alto University, where I built a strong foundation in clinical practice and culturally responsive care.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is strength-based, person-centered, and collaborative. I will work alongside you, focusing on your unique strengths while offering compassion, patience, and understanding throughout the process.

What you can expect from me

I completely understand that showing up for a first session can feel like a big step, so I want you to know right away that there is no pressure to have all the answers. Our first meeting is really just a chance for us to start a conversation at whatever pace feels right for you. We’ll move through things as slowly as needed and if I ever ask a question you aren’t ready to dive into yet, you can always choose to share more in the future. While we’ll definitely talk about what’s been going on you lately, I’m also really looking forward to getting to know you as a whole person. I care about your mental health, of course, but I also want to hear about your interests, your sense of humor, and the things that make you, you.

My goal isn’t to just treat a set of symptoms it’s to truly understand the person behind them. We’re just two people sitting down to see if we’re a good fit, and I’m here to make sure you feel heard and supported from the very start.
