Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Sandra Toffay, a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a PhD in Nursing and a strong background in both medical and mental health care. I specialize in treating adults with mood disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia, and other psychotic illnesses, often alongside chronic medical conditions.

My approach is compassionate, culturally informed, and centered around building trust. I believe in partnering with clients to create realistic, personalized treatment plans that support both emotional and physical well-being. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating a new diagnosis, or managing complex symptoms, I’m here to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and grounded in both empathy and evidence-based care. I take time to truly listen and understand each person’s story, values, and goals. I believe mental health care works best when it feels like a partnership, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

I combine supportive talk therapy, psychoeducation, and medication management when appropriate. I also explore how culture, stress, trauma, and physical health may be influencing a client’s mental wellness. My goal is to create a nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to take charge of their healing.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to leave sessions feeling heard, supported, and equipped with practical tools to manage their mental health. My goal is to help you gain insight into your experiences, build emotional resilience, and develop strategies that align with your personal goals and values.

Over time, clients often report improved mood, increased self-awareness, greater clarity around their challenges, and a stronger sense of control over their mental health journey.
