Rico Nelson has extensive counseling experience and holds teaching and social worker certification with the OCPS school district. Rico has a strong foundation in working with students, individuals, and families who struggle with a wide range of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, grief, anger, addiction, and more.
My clinical approach is to provide a caring, empathetic, safe, and supportive therapeutic environment where client’s feel comfortable and understood to be able to express themselves fully about what they are experiencing without blame or judgement. Also, my approach promotes the client’s self-determination to decide what interventions and strategies best fits their needs and wants.
Client’s can expect to take away evidence-based interventions, strategies, and tools to help them discover and/or rediscover the best versions of themselves. I truly believe that client’s come into therapy with a set of strengths and talents they already possess and only need to be reminded of how resilient they really are.
