Great to meet you!

I am a board certified psychiatrist in New York. I completed my medical training at George Washington University in Washington, DC, and psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City, where I trained in many settings, from the psychiatric emergency room to college counseling centers. Most recently, I was the director of psychiatry for a community clinic in Midtown, and a consultant for a group therapy practice on the Upper West Side. I'm proud to have worked in a variety of treatment settings - it's helped me build a broad knowledge base that helps my patients, and has allowed me to meet many great people across the city!

My approach to therapy

I hope to provide a space for patients to play an active, informed role in their treatment. I want to understand any questions or apprehensions that people may have about taking psychiatric medications to help folks make comfortable, enthusiastic, and informed decisions about their treatment plans. In psychiatry, there are often several reasonable solutions or options to try, and I do my best to explain these options.

I aim to gently and carefully address symptoms with medication, as I believe that starting, stopping, or switching medications too quickly can be uncomfortable. If a medication isn't working out, I try to avoid randomly switching to a new antidepressant and instead hope to troubleshoot the nuances of your symptoms, and to understand the root causes of why a treatment plan didn't work as we thought it would.

What you can expect from me

In order to hit the ground running, I'll often focus on understanding current problems that folks are hoping to solve, and any impact they're making on your daily life and routines (for example: how is sleep? energy, nutrition, hobbies, work, family, relationships?).

I think it's important for patients to know that at the end of a session, I will suggest a treatment plan, but you may always take more time to think about your options. I try to balance providing a rationale for my proposed plan, while also being open and flexible to shifting plans based on someone's needs or concerns.

While I don't provide therapy, I have experience with different types of therapy and can help patients decide if they want to pursue therapy, medications, or both. Over the course of our work together, I will evaluate what types of therapy might fit your needs.
