Great to meet you!

Sara DeSmet is an LMFT and art therapist graduating from LMU with a masters in these areas. She regularly uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), family systems and clinical art therapy with clients. She empowers individuals to express their voices and be more present in relationships. She has specialized training and background in parenting, communication, stress management, postpartum and life transitions, and mood disorders.

My approach to therapy

Her style is goal-oriented and client-centered. As a humanist, she believes in the individual’s ability to tap into an internal desire for creating meaning and change in one’s life.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is all about change. And DeSmet genuinely supports clients in the process of seeking meaningful changes they desire. Success in therapy often looks different for each person. Though success often becomes evident in clients re-engaging in life and relationships and/or meaningful pursuits and activities. For some it is discovering something new and living their unique life.
