Great to meet you!
If you're an ADHD client who feels like you've tried everything your therapist suggested, and nothing has worked, there's probably a reason why.
Strategies that are made for someone else aren't going to work for you, because you can't force your brain to become "neurotypical."
ADHD therapy is strategic, goal-focused, and unconventional. Your therapist needs to understand that feeling unmotivated isn't laziness. Procrastination isn't apathy about consequences. Feeling like your emotions are more intense than other people's isn't a mood disorder. And struggling to keep up with the demands of daily life is absolutely not stupidity.
Part of your therapy is helping you understand those truths, too.
I am extensively trained in ADHD counseling. I get your brain (yup, I'm a club member too). Targeted ADHD therapy can help you learn skills that make your daily life easier. My goals are to help you leave each session with a new strategy to try, to help you understand how to work with your ADHD brain instead of against it, and to reduce the shame people with ADHD so often feel about their symptoms.
And because ADHD frequently travels with friends, I also treat related issues with an ADHD-informed mindset: insomnia and other sleep issues, chronic illness and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and more. Whether you're a first-time therapy participant or an old pro, I'll work with you to find new strategies you haven't tried before. I am autism, sensory processing disorder, and trauma informed, meaning I understand how those differences shape your needs and your treatment.
- I love your ADHD brain, and I want you to love it, too.
