Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Sara Powers, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). With extensive experience in mental health, substance use treatment, and critical care, I bring a well-rounded perspective to psychiatric care. I earned my Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and am passionate about helping adults navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD.

I believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms. My approach is holistic — I work collaboratively with you to create personalized treatment plans that may include medication management as well as lifestyle modifications like exercise, movement, nutrition, and other wellness strategies that support long-term healing and balance.

I’m committed to providing compassionate, non-judgmental care in a warm and supportive environment where you feel truly heard and empowered in your mental health journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, patient-centered, and holistic—I look at the whole person, not just symptoms. I build a trusting, safe relationship with you so we can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Depending on what you need, I combine evidence-based talk therapy (like cognitive behavioral techniques to help shift unhelpful patterns), medication management when helpful, and practical strategies for lifestyle, stress, and overall wellness. My goal is to empower you with tools and support to feel better, build resilience, and move toward a healthier, more balanced life—always tailoring the plan to your unique goals and preferences in a non-judgmental space.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I focus on creating a warm, inviting, and safe space where you can feel comfortable and heard without judgment. My goal is to truly understand your story, your concerns, and what brings you in, while empowering you to play a central role in your own care.

We'll spend time discussing the outcomes you hope to achieve and collaboratively set realistic, achievable goals tailored to your needs and priorities. This initial meeting is about building trust and laying a strong foundation for our work together.
