Great to meet you!

I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I grew up on the Jersey Shore and served five years in the Marine Corps, including during the first invasion of Iraq. These experiences showed me just how much trauma can impact the mind, soul, and body.

I’ve spent the last twenty years working in mental health industry, taking on different roles to better support the people I work with. I chose to focus on trauma-informed care because I want to help others avoid the struggles I went through after coming back from Iraq.

My goal is to make sure no one feels alone or doubts their worth. I believe that working together as a team is important. I focus on building a strong relationship, helping you understand how therapy works and what to expect, and supporting your growth so you can become your true self.

My approach to therapy

At Unwind The Mind Therapy LLC, I practice as a clinical therapist guided by empathy, respect, integrity, and kindness.

I realize that each person has a right to have their situation taken into account and to be understood in the light of their specific trauma experiences. I have received training in the most recent approaches to trauma-informed care and interventions, am certified in EMDR, am trained in Brainspotting, and keep up to date with the latest research into neurobiology and with somatic methods as well as mindfulness techniques, all of which aim at helping your nervous system come to the conclusion that it is safe in its own body and at assisting our clients on their path to healing.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a relaxed approach called "breaking bread.” While some therapists prefer to begin with extensive assessments and a discussion of policies and procedures, I’d like us to get to know each other and build a strong, collaborative treatment alliance and rapport. I would go over whatever you ask: modalities, interventions, open dialogue, and what you will get is respect, hard work, and healing.
