Great to meet you!

Are you the person everyone else relies on while you're quietly falling apart yourself? Or the person who is managing the weight of the world while walking in loneliness or uncertainty? Maybe you no longer know what it means to be you, anxiety keeps your mind racing, or your relationship feels like you're speaking different languages. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone.

I'm Sarah, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with specialized training in EMDR, perinatal mental health, Gottman couples therapy, infant mental health, and early childhood mental health. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, challenged, and hopeful—a place where you feel like you.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is hard enough—it doesn't have to feel cold, awkward, or like you're talking to someone who only responds with, "And how did that make you feel?" I believe healing happens through genuine connection. We'll laugh when it's appropriate, be honest when it's needed, and tackle the hard stuff together. I use humor naturally in sessions when it fits because I believe laughter can be healing. While we'll absolutely do meaningful work together, therapy doesn't have to feel stiff or intimidating.

My approach is conversational, collaborative, and practical. You'll never feel like you're talking to someone reading from a textbook or sitting silently while you carry the conversation.

Together we'll identify patterns, develop practical strategies, process difficult experiences when needed, and celebrate progress along the way. I draw from EMDR, cognitive behavioral approaches, attachment theory, solution-focused techniques, and Gottman Method principles depending on your goals—not a one-size-fits-all treatment plan.

Therapy can include laughter, honesty, and real conversations. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling understood, empowered, and equipped with something meaningful to take into your week.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've never done it before. My goal is to make the first session feel more like a conversation than an interrogation.

We'll spend some time getting to know each other, talking about what's bringing you to therapy, and discussing what you'd like life to look like if therapy were successful. I'll answer any questions you have about my approach so you can decide whether we're a good fit.

While some information gathering is necessary, I don't believe the first session should end with you feeling like you spent an hour filling out paperwork. Whenever possible, we'll begin identifying practical steps or new ways of looking at your situation so you leave with greater clarity—and hopefully, a little more hope.
