Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Sarah Poirier, a licensed therapist specializing in childhood emotional trauma and its lasting impact in adulthood. I work with adults who grew up with emotionally immature parents, adult children of alcoholics, or dysfunctional family systems and now struggle with anxiety, shame, people-pleasing, relationship difficulties, or a persistent sense of not feeling “enough. I like to work with people from alternative lifestyles such as sex workers, poly, kink, and the LGBTQ+ community. For more information on my specialties visit moonrisetherapy.net.

My approach to therapy

Many of my clients come to therapy as adults who “had a childhood that wasn’t bad enough to explain how they feel now,” but still struggle with chronic self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling unseen in relationships. Together, we explore how early family dynamics shaped your nervous system, attachment patterns, and sense of self. I integrate EMDR, ACT, CBT, and attachment-based work to help process early emotional wounds and build healthier internal and relational patterns.

What you can expect from me

Clients often describe me as calm, genuine, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create a space where you can better understand yourself, heal, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
