Great to meet you!

My name is Sarah Read and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a proud military spouse. I am fully licensed in Florida and Illinois with experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families.

After completing my Master’s in Social Work, I’ve expanded my toolkit with specialized training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Perinatal Mental Health. My passion background includes supporting individuals through trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, behavioral concerns, significant life transitions, family challenges, and everyday stressors.

My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered to move toward meaningful change. Reaching out for support takes courage and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey by providing support and helping you achieve growth and healing that lasts.

As a military spouse, I understand many of the unique challenges military families face from a professional and personal perspective and recognize the resilience required to navigate frequent moves, deployments, reunification after separation, changing schools, building new support systems, and balancing the demands of military life.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs, not like a one size fits all experience. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, trauma-informed care, strengths-based therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-informed interventions, while adapting each session to your desired goals and unique personality.

Together we’ll process through challenges, celebrate progress, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop coping skills that you can confidently use to manage everyday stressors and any other challenges you may face.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy is a courageous first step and it’s normal to feel a little nervous. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable being yourself.

During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know one another. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently facing, your personal history, your strengths, and what you hope to achieve during our time together. This is also your opportunity to ask questions, share any concerns, and learn more about my approach.

Together, we’ll begin identifying meaningful goals and develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, parenting challenges, postpartum adjustments, military family life, or a major life transition, we’ll work collaboratively to help you build practical tools, increase resilience, and create lasting change.

There is no expectation to share everything during the first session. Therapy is a process, and I encourage you to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My hope is that you leave your first appointment feeling heard, supported, and encouraged, with a clearer understanding of the path forward.
