Great to meet you!

I am Sarika, a native Floridian who transplanted to Omaha, Nebraska, three years ago. I am a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, friend, survivor of sexual/dating violence, and suicide attempt survivor who advocates for the voiceless—at the same time, changing the stigma of mental health care in the Black/African American community. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Florida and a Master of Social Work from Florida State University.

A bit about my approach to therapy

In my practice, my focus is trauma, power-based personal violence, relationship issues, and more. While working with clients, I focus on empowering them by helping them become the best version of themselves by diving deep into their lives using a combination of therapeutic modalities and including but not limited to Client-Centered Counseling, Interpersonal Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and more.

What you can expect from our first session

After the first session, you may feel awkward and overwhelmed; however, as we build rapport, you should start to feel empowered and understood. After a few sessions, you will begin to feel like you have your life under control and feel better about yourself. You will learn more about yourself and how you can move forward to live a more fulfilled life.
