Welcome to my therapy page! I appreciate therapy because it is a way to learn and grow. Each of us has a mind, heart, and emotions so it makes a lot of sense to learn about how our mind and body work. It is also a courageous act. It takes courage to reach out, courage to feel uncomfortable emotions and courage to embark on change. The foundation of my therapy approach is self-compassion; it is the desire to understand ourselves from a place of curiosity rather than criticism. I have training and experience counseling and coaching leaders and managers in companies to maximize their growth to serve their teams and their own wellbeing.
Clients improve faster and with long-lasting positive change when they are able to integrate: kindness, coping skills, and an understanding from neuroscience of how these skills make a difference. Emotions that arise can be met with compassion and understanding rather than frustration. You are taught how to not only tolerate, but process difficult emotions. I use parts-work theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), somatic therapy, and psychoanalysis.
I offer telemental health or virtual therapy. I integrate mindfulness, somatic (body-based awareness), and practical skills for regulating emotions and communicating clearly. I believe that we learn best by doing, so will encourage you to practice the skills you learn in day to day life to see how they work. My job is to partner with you on this journey.
