Great to meet you!

I am a concentious, caring, and outgoing individual.I am married and though the his, her, our total is 8 kids, only three have not transitioned out of the home. Their ages are 8, 13, and 17. I was a school teacher for over 15 years, having taught in public school at both high school and middle school. I have also taught at a charter school, a private school, and even within TDCJ. In my teaching, I have dealt with individuals with exceptionalities and behavioral management struggles, as well as several of my children are individuals with ADHD and one on the Autism Spectrum. I have worked with Child Protective Services and have worked in ministry in various ways for years. I mention these past jobs because I bring a variety of experiences that, along with my psychology training, guide my approach to counseling.

My approach to therapy

I believe in a holistic approach to counseling. It is important to understand how the psycho-bio-social-spiritual aspect of an individual plays into the ways they deal with and interact with the things going on in their life. Though I will utilize various counseling techniques as it seems best fit for the circumstance, I do lean heavily on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, one of the most empirically supported approaches there is in counseling. I have a dual Master of Arts in counseling for Licensed Professional Counseling and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from LeTourneau University. I also have a Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University. My Undergraduate work includes a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F Austin State University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Ministerial Studies from Chazah University.

What you can expect from me

We will work together to find a solution to whatever the struggle or question is. Though I guide and help with whatever problem is being faced, I believe helping you come to the solution with your own ownership is better than just giving you an answer. Helping you see the why of something generally provides a deeper longer longer-lasting solution than just giving an answer and sending you on your way.
