Great to meet you!

Mental health treatment aims to enhance emotional well-being and happiness. During sessions, I prioritize listening to you approximately 80% of the time and provide feedback on the remaining 20%. Your objectives are of utmost importance to me, and we will collaboratively develop a strategy to achieve them. I hold a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology, Policy, and Law. My journey into the field of psychology began after working as a first responder in the 911 system, both in medical and law enforcement capacities, followed by teaching college. I do not have any specific preferences regarding the “doctor" title, so please feel free to address me as Scott.

As a former police officer and EMT, I totally get what you’re going through in the grind of the 911 system. It can be tough, but remember, you’re doing your best. You’re not defined by the tough situations you face. You have the skills and knowledge to live a great life. Let’s chat about how you can use those skills to make a difference.

My approach to therapy

I’m all ears when you talk about how mental health challenges affect your daily life. Together, we’ll figure out the best way to support you. Your words have power, and how you talk about yourself and the world matters. I’ll work closely with you to achieve your goals using Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

What you can expect from me

Let’s chat about how life’s events affect your daily routines. We’ll also discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve from therapy. I’ll share some ideas for moving forward, and we can discuss your thoughts on the plan. If you’re someone who believes in something, any belief, and you’d like us to include your relationship with God, prayer, meditation, intuition, or esoteric traditions in your healing journey, I’d be happy to do so. Or, if you’re holding onto bitterness because of your experience with organized religion, know that our time together is a safe space where you can find healing.
