Great to meet you!

I've spent more than 20 years helping people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. One thing I've learned is that people don't need to be judged, lectured, or told what they "should" be doing. They need someone who will listen, be genuine with them, and help them figure out what works for them, and help figure out what works for their life. My style is warm, direct, and practical. I ask questions that encourage you to think differently, and I won't shy away from difficult conversations. Most importantly, I want you to feel that therapy is something we're doing together.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to the individual. I believe you are the expert on your own life, while my role is to help you better understand your experiences, recognize patterns, build on your strengths, and develop healthier ways of moving forward. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, depending on your needs and goals. My style is warm and supportive, bust also direct when needed. I believe meaningful change often comes from feeling understood while also being willing to look at things from a different perspective and try something new.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, you can expect a relaxed, nonjudgmental conversation focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what's been going on, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to get from our work together. I will ask questions, but you won't be expected to share anything before you're ready. We will begin identifying your strengths, concerns, and goals and discuss an approach that makes sense for you. Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for us to see if we are a good fit and begin building a comfortable, collaborative relationship.
