Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Sean and I would like to welcome you to therapy. If you are feeling stressed, stuck, and/or overwhelmed with life circumstances, you have come to the right place. I have been passionate about providing quality therapy for many years. Therapy can lead to insight and growth and help build a quality of life that you truly deserve.

I currently utilize the following models in therapy:

Motivational Interviewing is a communication style designed to support active listening and client autonomy. You will feel heard and supported to focus on specific goals for your therapy experience. Change can be challenging. You may even enjoy some of the things you seek to change. This is often a completely normal experience. We will explore your goals in a non-judgmental and validating manner.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured goal-oriented model that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Having racing thoughts and feeling angry, sad, and/or worried are often normal experiences for many of us. When experiences impact your functioning, this may result in distress and/or conflict. We will collaborate to identify patterns that may be unhelpful and develop coping skills that may help you resolve your concerns.

Solution Focused Therapy is a future orientated model. We will collaborate to determine solutions that could help you move forward towards your preferred future. This includes exploring your strengths and resources that can be utilized as key supports during your therapy journey.

Trauma Informed Care is a framework that ensures therapy offers you a safe space where psychological and emotional safety is paramount. You will be empowered to have a voice and choice during the therapy process. Moreover, you will feel a sense of trustworthiness and transparency during your therapy journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach is affirming, collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in respect for your individual experiences. I am an active listener who will ensure you feel heard. I take time to understand your perspectives, strengths, and needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all plan. You can speak openly about what you are experiencing and identify the goals that matter most to you. Whether you are managing a current challenge, navigating a transition, or looking for greater clarity, we can begin wherever you are.

Moreover, I am always interested in hearing if you feel therapy is helpful and you are making progress. I am committed to being flexible and adjusting the course and style of therapy if and when you need to. Together, we can build insight, identify practical next steps, and develop strategies that feel realistic and useful in your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session welcomes you to therapy and begins laying the foundation for a supportive, trusting and collaborative process. You are in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space that values you as the client. You can talk openly about what's on your mind, how you feel, organize your thoughts, and begin identifying meaningful goals. You only need to share what you are comfortable with.

Together, we will develop a plan that may eventually make you feel better and/or make the changes you might be seeking to make. Over time, our work may help you gain greater clarity, strengthen your coping skills, and feel more confident handling the challenges in front of you. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust our interventions to support what you need.
