Selena Sena-Hopkins

Hi, I'm Selena.

I started working with clients in 2014 as I was getting a Masters degree in existential psychology from Seattle University. I have worked with clients of all ages, including young children. I have many years of experience as well as education and training in attachment, trauma, child and human development, sand tray/play therapy, and equine assisted therapy.

With all clients I approach the therapeutic process with curiosity and interest in learning about each client's particular experiences, and facilitating each client's deeper connection and awareness with their experiencing, choices, and sense of self with others in the world. I remain open to client's unfolding of their own truths, pains, gifts, and priorities, and offer a rigorous mirroring that will inquire into client's choices, what is their responsibility and what is not, and their early history in attachment relationships. I believe where we were missed as children we continue to miss ourselves as adults, without knowing we are missing ourselves. This leaves a gap in our connection to ourselves, and brings tension and insecurities to our relationships with others.

Increasing one's awareness and trust with their many self potentials, and increasing one's ability to 'regulate' and 'self-comfort' when challenging situations and emotions show up. Increasing client's sense of agency, trust in their voice, connection with their needs and wants, acceptance of internal and external limits.
