Great to meet you!

I'm Selina Farmer, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with over 15 years of experience in behavioral health and trauma therapy. As an EMDR therapist and trauma specialist, I focus on treating trauma, anxiety, and PTSD using evidence-based, research-backed methods. I'm trained in EMDR Basic and Advanced protocols, Somatic EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Positive Psychology. I also hold certifications in trauma-informed care, addictions-informed counseling, ADHD treatment, mindfulness-based therapy, and mental-health nutrition, along with specialized training in supporting military service members, veterans, and military families. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults, offering therapy for teens, young adult counseling, and adult mental health support, always bringing genuine warmth and creativity alongside clinical expertise.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, grounding, and deeply client-centered. As a trauma-informed therapist, I integrate evidence-based treatments, including EMDR therapy, somatic therapy, mindfulness-based counseling, and DBT skills training, with warmth and creativity, meeting each client exactly where they are rather than applying a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. I hold a steady, trauma-informed presence throughout our work together, so we move at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. Whether you're seeking anxiety treatment, PTSD therapy, trauma recovery, or specialized care as a service member, veteran, or military family member, my goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools for lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Your first therapy session with me is a chance to get to know each other and ensure it's the right fit for your mental health goals. We'll discuss what's bringing you to counseling, review your history, and identify the concerns you'd like to prioritize, whether that's trauma treatment, anxiety relief, PTSD symptoms, or another area of focus. I'll walk you through my therapeutic approach, including how EMDR and other methods might support your healing, and answer any questions about the therapy process. There's no pressure to have it all figured out in the first session; this is simply the beginning of building trust and creating a personalized treatment plan that works for you.
