Great to meet you!

I, Dr. Serginho Walker, am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I currently serve as an adjunct professor in the Counseling and Applied Behavioral Studies Department at The University of Saint Joseph and work as an independent contracted therapist for Headway, I have extensive experience working with individuals from the LGBTQ+ BIPOC community and providing affirming clinical support and mentorship to counseling students at the master’s level. I've worked as a crisis clinician and as a couples and individual therapist in various clinical settings. I have a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, from Southern Connecticut State University. My clinical and academic work emphasizes the importance of building therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, cultural humility, and respect.

My approach to therapy

I practice intersectional, liberation-oriented psychotherapy grounded in Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy, helping individuals reclaim their stories, embrace their authentic identities, and cultivate healing beyond the limitations imposed by trauma, oppression, and societal expectations.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, authenticity, empathy, and mutual respect, where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued. As a Queer Black Therapist integrating Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy, I strive to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up as your authentic self. Together, we will explore your lived experiences, current challenges, personal goals, and the stories that have shaped your understanding of yourself and the world around you. Our first session is not about fixing you, but about getting to know you, honoring your experiences, and beginning a collaborative journey toward healing, empowerment, and self-discovery. You are the expert of your own story, and my role is to walk alongside you as we explore what growth, authenticity, and liberation mean for you.
