Great to meet you!

Sevilay Yumusak is a compassionate, client-centered therapist dedicated to supporting adolescents and adults on their journey toward healing and growth. With experience in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, she thoughtfully incorporates dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills and mindfulness practices to meet each client’s unique needs. Sevilay offers services in both English and Turkish and is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

My approach to therapy

What sets my approach apart is how I combine practical, evidence-based tools with deep empathy and cultural sensitivity. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques to help clients gain insight and take actionable steps toward change. I also integrate dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness — making sessions both structured and flexible to fit each client’s needs. Clients often share that they feel genuinely seen and supported in our work together, and they appreciate the balance of warmth, clarity, and helpful strategies they can use outside of sessions. Whether we're exploring long-standing patterns or managing daily stressors, my goal is always to empower you to move forward with greater awareness, confidence, and self-compassion.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brought you to therapy, your current challenges, and your hopes or goals for the process. You’ll also have the chance to share anything you feel is important and ask any questions you may have about how I work. This session is a starting point — there's no pressure to share everything at once. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space where you feel heard, supported, and respected from the very beginning.
