Great to meet you!

Are struggling to find balance with school, work commitments, and family obligations? Are you struggling with self-confidence or do you struggle with self-esteem issues? If your answer is yes, you are not alone! Life can be stressful at times and lead to feeling overwhelmed. I'm here to help you navigate through difficult circumstances.

I have been a mental health professional for over twenty years and have worked in a variety of settings that include community mental health (local CSB), a disability service agency, and in the public-school setting. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Norfolk State University and a master's in public administration from Old Dominion University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have been endorsed as a school social worker through the Virginia Board of Education.

My approach to therapy

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), Mindfulness, and Talk Therapy that will assist you in processing challenging situations. CBT will help you to begin to challenge and reframe negative thought patterns, while SBFT will help you to focus on the inherent strengths that are often overlooked, allowing you to work toward achieving your goals. Lastly incorporating mindfulness activities in your daily life is important and provides an opportunity to reflect.

What you can expect from me

I know that making the choice to start therapy and make yourself vulnerable to a stranger is not easy. I have worked with many people who are at a crossroads and don't know where to begin. I am here to collaborate with you on this journey to acquire the tools and coping strategies to lead a healthy and productive life.
