Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Shamaya, a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with children (K–12) and women navigating anxiety, stress, and emotional challenges. I have experience as both a school counselor and crisis counselor, supporting clients with a range of needs. I hold degrees in Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am currently pursuing my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in School Counseling. My approach is warm and strengths-based, using CBT and solution-focused strategies to help you feel more confident, supported, and in control.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and strengths-based. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being open and understood. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected; Solution-Focused Therapy, which emphasizes building on strengths and finding practical solutions; and Reality Therapy to support growth and meaningful change.

When working with children, I focus on building emotional awareness, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening confidence. When working with women, I support them in managing stress, setting healthy boundaries, and prioritizing their well-being.

My goal is to meet each client where they are and provide tools that lead to meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your concerns at your own pace. We will spend time getting to know you—what brings you in, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

Together, we’ll begin to identify your goals and what you would like to work toward, whether that’s managing anxiety, improving emotional regulation, or creating more balance in your life. I will also share how I work and answer any questions you may have so you feel confident and supported in the process.

My goal for the first session is for you to feel heard, understood, and reassured that you’re in a safe space where meaningful change can begin.
