Great to meet you!

My name is Shamni Uthayasoorian, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I graduated with Masters of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over the past five years (2019-2024), I've had the privilege of working as a therapist in diverse settings, including inpatient, residential, and group home programs.

A bit about my approach to therapy

As a dedicated therapist with a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), I specialize in providing compassionate support and evidence-based interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I draw from multicultural, humanistic, and person-centered approaches to ensure a personalized and holistic therapeutic experience.

What you can expect from our first session

My goal is to create a safe and affirming space for individuals from all backgrounds to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or seeking personal growth, I'm here to support you on your journey towards healing and self-discovery. Together, we can cultivate resilience, empowerment, and a sense of belonging.
