Great to meet you!

Are you struggling to find a psychiatric provider who actually takes the time to understand you — not just your symptoms, but your whole life?

I'm Shandel Douglas, a board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with 9 years of experience. I hold a Doctorate of Nursing from Herzing University and specialize in helping adolescents, adults, and seniors in New Jersey navigate anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, trauma, PTSD, grief, panic disorders, sleep difficulties, and more.

I provide both medication management and individual therapy so whether you're looking for psychiatric medication support, therapy, or both, I can help you build a care plan that truly fits your life.

My practice is fully telehealth, which means you get access to quality psychiatric care from the comfort of your home, anywhere in New Jersey. No commute. No waiting room. Just care that works around your schedule.

I believe in treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis. My approach is open-minded and holistic, because I know that what works for one person won't work for everyone. My goal is to understand you fully so we can build something that actually helps.

My approach to therapy

My practice is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and behavior management techniques approaches with strong evidence for helping people understand and shift the patterns that are keeping them stuck.

But I don't stop at the diagnosis. I take a holistic lens: that means understanding your environment, your relationships, your routines, and your personal history alongside your symptoms. Real, lasting change rarely happens in a vacuum, and I want the full picture before we make a plan together.

I offer both medication management and individual therapy. If medication is part of your care, I take time to explain what we're using and why, and I stay closely in tune with how you're responding. If your needs shift, your plan shifts with you.

My goal isn't just to manage symptoms it's to help you feel genuinely empowered to take back control of your mental health.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is simply a conversation no pressure, no judgment, no wrong answers.

I'll ask about what's been going on for you, what's brought you to seek support, and what you've tried before. I'll share how I work and what we might focus on together. This is about getting to know each other, not a test.

Because my practice is fully virtual, our session takes place over a secure video platform from wherever you're most comfortable your home, your car, wherever works best for you. Many patients find it easier to open up in a familiar space, and I think that matters.

By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer sense of where things stand and what our next steps look like — whether that's starting a medication plan, exploring therapy, or a combination of both. You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet. That's what I'm here for.

If any of this sounds like what you've been looking for, I am currently accepting new patients — I'd love to hear from you.
