Clients can expect the first session to feel welcoming, structured, and centered on building comfort and trust. Shania will take time to get to know the child or teen, learn what brought them to therapy, and understand their strengths, interests, and goals. She’ll ask questions about emotions, daily routines, and important relationships while moving at a pace that feels safe, often incorporating play‐based or age‐appropriate activities to help younger clients open up. Parents or caregivers may participate in part of the session to share background information and collaborate on a plan. By the end of the visit, clients and families will have a clearer sense of Shania’s approach and the next steps in the therapeutic process.
