Great to meet you!

Hi I'm Shanna! I am an IFS Informed, EMDR therapist, who specializes in working with adults recovering from growing up in dysfunctional family systems. The impact shows up uniquely in each person-- some patterns I've seen in my client's are; being codependent with others, emotionally or socially immature, having vulnerabilities to addiction, frequently befriending or falling in love with alcoholics/addicts, feeling highly anxious, being an over achievers or "over functioner" and struggle with letting go of control or perfection. If this resonates, you've come to the right place.

I started my graduate work at Texas Woman's University in 2016. Since becoming a therapist in 2019, I've worked to heal myself from the impact of being a first-born daughter raised in a dysfunctional family system as a parentified child of divorce. I believe some of the best therapist's are humans that have "gone through it" themselves and I am passionate to work with adults who've walked similar paths but also desire to not pass on that legacy of trauma and dysfunction. I always say, if you heal yourself, you help heal the world, one person at a time. Since 2019, I've worked to help others heal themselves in the juvenile justice system, first responders, psych hospital settings, group practice, community mental health and now private practice.

My approach to therapy

One of the things I enjoy the most about the client/therapist relationship is that it is collaborative! We work together to achieve your goals. I utilize IFS, Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR, CBT, Somatic/body work, DBT, PolyVagal Theory, I recommend books/articles/podcases and use psychoeducation to help you meet your therapeutic goals!

If my profile resonates with you, feel free to reach out for a free 15 min phone consultation! If we are a good fit, I'll make recommendations of what session frequency may be most helpful. If you already have ideas about how often you'd like to come in, we can discuss that as well!

What you can expect from me

I create a warm and encouraging environment for clients to "do the work". I sometimes utilize "homework" between sessions and encourage you to practice the skills you learn in session, in your life outside the 50 mins. Therapy works if YOU work it.
