Great to meet you!

I'm Shanna Holladay, a licensed therapist with 25 years of experience supporting people through some of life's most difficult passages. I offer telehealth sessions for individuals and couples throughout California. I work with adults, adolescents, and seniors.

My specialties include trauma and PTSD, substance use and addiction recovery, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and LGBTQIAS2+ folks, I'm a deeply affirming therapist for LGBTQIAS2+ clients and have extensive experience supporting transgender folks navigating transition, identity, and the mental health weight that often comes with it.

I accept Anthem, Blue Cross, Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, and Carelon Behavioral Health. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can make sure we're a good fit before we start.

My approach to therapy

My approach is relational and depth-oriented — I care as much about how we work together as what we work on. I draw primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps you understand the different parts of yourself that can sometimes feel in conflict, and cultivate more self-compassion toward all of them. I weave in psychodynamic principles to understand how your past shapes your present, and motivational interviewing when we're navigating ambivalence or patterns that feel hard to shift.

I don't use a rigid or one-size-fits-all method. Some sessions are reflective and exploratory; others are more direct and practical. What stays consistent is my genuine investment in your growth and my belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is one of the most powerful tools for change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is unhurried. I'll ask what brought you in and what you're hoping for — but I won't rush you through a checklist. We'll talk about what's most present for you right now, and I'll share a little about how I work so you can get a real sense of whether we're a good fit.

Most people leave the first session feeling relieved they came. There's no pressure to have everything figured out. I want you to feel like you've landed somewhere — not just started a process.
