Great to meet you!

I’m Shannon Lopynski, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor working with adults in their 20s and 30s living in California who are navigating anxiety, overthinking, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I earned my Master’s from The George Washington University and my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech.

I was drawn to this work through my own experiences with life transitions and a deep curiosity about mental health, which allows me to approach clients with genuine empathy and respect. My style is warm, compassionate, and direct. I create a supportive space where you feel understood while also being gently challenged to explore patterns — like people-pleasing or self-doubt — that may be keeping you stuck.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), blending talk therapy with mindfulness and somatic practices, helping clients reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and build a deeper sense of presence.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming space focused on understanding what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll explore your current challenges, your goals, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask thoughtful questions at a pace that feels comfortable and walk you through how I typically approach therapy. By the end of the session, you’ll have greater clarity and a collaborative plan for moving forward.
