Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Shannon.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor (LPC-S) and I have been a therapist in private practice for 18 years. I received my Master of Counseling degree from Dallas Baptist University. I also received a Master of Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary. I am a Christian counselor, and I use my training from both my theology and counseling programs to guide my sessions. I have experience in outpatient, inpatient, private practice, managed care, and education. I am a certified provider for the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®). I am also a certified Prepare Enrich Facilitator.

My passion is in working with women struggling with relationships and balancing family and other priorities. I specialize in individual, marriage and family therapy working with issues such as handling marriage struggles, singleness, divorce, anxiety, codependency, attachment, communication, navigating having a child with a diagnosis of Autism, and general struggles that can come with being a mom.

My approach to therapy

In my counseling sessions, I believe it is important to integrate best-practices in psychology with biblical and theological truths which enables myself as the counselor and you to address the entire person: body, mind, and soul. My passion is in walking with clients as they make decisions to trust God with their deepest hurts, fears, and hopes.

In counseling sessions, I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. CBT is an evidenced based treatment that has been shown to lead to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Sessions are a safe place for my clients to process their thoughts and feelings. I do typically suggest homework, but it isn't required. Clients will ultimately get out of sessions the work that they put into it.
