Great to meet you!

I believe that considering counseling takes courage, especially when you may not be sure where to begin or what to expect. You may be looking for help with something happening right now while also wondering why certain patterns seem to keep repeating. We can start wherever you are and work together to address immediate concerns, while also making space to explore the deeper experiences that may be influencing how you feel and move through the world.

I earned a Masters degree in Psychology in 2005 and have been a licensed counselor since 2008. I continue to be energized by the work and feel honored to support people as they navigate life's challenges and changes. I currently work with adults age 18 and up. I work with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, identity development, anger, and grief. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and culturally responsive and have experience working with neurodiversity.

My approach to therapy

I approach counseling with authenticity, curiosity, and genuine respect for each person's experience. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel understood, supported, and comfortable being yourself.

My style integrates cognitive, client-centered, interpersonal, existential, and modern psychodynamic approaches, giving us the flexibility to tailor therapy to what works best for you. I have advanced training in trauma processing. I am also trained in EMDR, which can be an option for addressing traumatic or emotionally difficult experiences that continue to feel unresolved.

I view counseling as a collaborative process. I actively engage with clients and welcome feedback. I want to make sure that counseling is helpful and aligned with the needs of each individual.

What you can expect from me

I will review your paperwork before the session and spend a few minutes discussing policies, process, and answering any questions you may have. The rest of the time will be spent getting to know you. I view people holistically, so in addition to asking about presenting concerns/symptoms, I want to take time to understand your history, relationships, health, strengths, and more. This helps me have a fuller picture of you as a person and what you are experiencing. We will also talk about what you would like to improve or change and work together to identify a plan that feels right for you.
