Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Sharan, a licensed marriage and family therapist with a spirituality specialization and a niche for trauma processing utilizing somatic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

When working together as your therapist, the therapeutic approach is personalized to each client’s unique needs, ensuring that you receive the most effective and supportive care! I do this by utilizing an eclectic range of modalities and interventions in my practice, such as mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, family systems and attachment theory, EMDR, and somatic therapy to provide a holistic and comprehensive therapeutic experience that is tailored to the needs of the client and promotes healing and growth.

My commitment is to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that trouble them in order to develop healthy sustainable coping strategies that enhance a better quality of life and promote the client's personal and psychological well-being!

My approach to therapy

Therapy is all about you! It takes a lot of courage sometimes to try or maintain therapy sessions. It is a brave decision to decide to work on yourself, and I honor that choice. As your therapist, I work at a pace that is safe for you. We will collaborate together on potential strategies to find solutions to your current, future or past troubles. I work with the thought patterns that may be coming up, or the emotional dysregulation that might show up, or the distress response that is happening in real time when working through a painful memory. We learn together, in the moment to honor the reaction and collaborate together to find healthier choices to promote nervous system regulation and personal empowerment.

I am deeply aware of the mind body spirit connection, and also provide therapy that may go beyond traditional talk therapy. For some, exploring their somatic responses to stress and distress can be a healing journey. I can integrate mindfulness, conscious breath awareness, EMDR, and other somatic modalities to promote holistic healing if it fits the client's needs and preferences.

Other modalities and strategies I commonly integrate in sessions include CBT, DBT, solutions focused, family systems and attachment theory, narrative therapy, and poly vagal theory.

What you can expect from me

I believe that empathy and trust are important in building our therapeutic relationship together. I am there to help you build deeper insight and therapy is here to empower you. I will follow your lead and trust that you intuitively know where to go in therapy. We will work together to create a treatment plan and therapy goals that accurately reflect your needs. If you like therapeutic homework, I do not mind assigning therapy homework between sessions! People are unique and diverse and I try to tailor your journey in therapy to be unique and reflective of your journey!
