Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Shari Nehemiah, Licensed Professional Counselor. I’m glad you’re here.

I have experience working in high-acuity settings, including the correctional system, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. I work with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, substance use, and major life transitions.

My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and goal-oriented. I use evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and a solution-focused approach to help you build practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space while also encouraging growth and accountability.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, structured, and goal-oriented. I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship while creating a safe, supportive space for clients to open up at their own pace. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop practical skills for managing emotions, improving thought patterns, and navigating life’s challenges.

I balance empathy with accountability, gently challenging unhelpful patterns while supporting meaningful change. I also incorporate trauma-informed care, recognizing the impact of past experiences on present functioning. My focus is on helping clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and apply what they learn in therapy to their everyday lives.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a safe and supportive environment. I take a warm, conversational approach to help clients feel comfortable as we begin exploring their concerns, goals, and what they hope to gain from therapy.
