Great to meet you!

Welcome to my practice! I hope you are ready to do some important work together. I am more than ready to share all I've learned in 37 years of 'practice' with you. I have several areas of experience, but most prominent specialties are trauma resolution and solution-focused couples' and family work--specifically reconciliation planning and intervention. My interventions focus on helping families to motivate a relative who is reluctant to seek treatment for substance abuse, mental illness, and/or domestic violence to engage in a recovery program. I also offer faith-based service on request of my clients, and definition of what you'd like to have included in your treatment in that regard.

My approach to therapy

You will find that I approach therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on what works and what does not work as well as you'd like in life. I can offer strategies that may provide you with different outcomes, but what you decide to apply is always up to you. I do hope you will feel safe enough in our relationship to 'try on' new behaviors and then generalize those to your life outside our sessions. The therapeutic relationship is a bit of a laboratory for learning to share openly, speak up about your needs and interests, and have those accepted, heard, and acted upon, possibly for the first time for some. For many people, it's a place to find your voice and your self-worth. I'm honored to join your journey to reach your goals, whatever they are.

I offer EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Internal Family Systems, and Prolonged Exposure, in my trauma work and Solution-Focused couples and family work.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want to get to know you and the reasons you are seeking therapy. If our work is successful, how will your life look and feel different than it is now? How will your behavior, well-being, and relationships change? We will take this information and set some reasonable goals and timelines to work toward, so you can know when you have completed this work and reached those goals. I will explain what therapy is like, my style, and what you can expect in your therapeutic journey, depending on what you'd like to accomplish based on my experience in how long those goals may take to achieve. This is a partnership, with only your goals in mind. It is a one-way relationship; I am here strictly to support you and your goals.
