Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Sharon B. Hopkins and I have been working in the counseling field for over 25 years. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001 and I later earned my Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from Regent University. I am dedicated to providing a non-judgmental, safe space for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings. I have served in community agencies, Residential Treatment and Outpatient settings. I have experience working with individuals suffering from faith issues, trauma, stress, relational issues, depression, forgiveness, low self esteem, grief/loss and other daily life issues that tend to cause discord or emotional pain.

My approach to therapy

I believe that mental wellness is important and needed for us to reach our full potential. I utilize CBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focus and other styles of therapy to help individuals achieve their goals. I deliver services through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens.

What you can expect from me

I understand that making the decision to come and share some of your most personal experiences can feel overwhelming and it is completely normal to feel nervous. Please know that our first session is your time to feel safe, heard and understood. I want you to feel comfortable physically and emotionally. There is no pressure to share everything all at once. I am there to walk alongside you at your chosen pace. We will spend time chatting about what brought you to therapy, what you hope to get out of out time together and any questions you may have for me. By the end of the 50 minutes my hope is that you feel deeply heard, respected and a little lighter than before the session started.
