Great to meet you!

My name is Sharon Kim, and I am a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from San Francisco. I have worked with diverse populations and have experience working with anxiety, depression, relational issues, generational trauma and acculturation. I am a first generation Korean-American and add a socio-cultural lens to the therapeutic experience.

My approach to therapy

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy through a strengths-based, person-centered approach. I believe that within us we all have the seeds to grow and transform. I follow you and together we will explore where you may need support. I am curious about how certain thoughts, feelings and beliefs have been transmitted through your family system. Attachment style, internal family systems, trauma-informed therapy also inform how I see our work together.

What you can expect from me

I provide a warm environment where my clients feel validated and open to sharing themselves. Building trust is an essential part of the therapeutic process. I am trained to listen deeply on many levels so you can expect to feel heard and acknowledged. I hope to offer a different perspective and a new way of thinking about your experiences. Sessions feel like a continuing conversation with someone who is curious and wanting to get to know you. All your feelings are valid and welcome.
