My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded primarily in a humanistic, person-centered framework. I believe that each individual possesses an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding. In our work together, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and valued. I view therapy as a collaborative process, honoring your lived experiences, personal strengths, and unique perspective.

While the foundation of my practice is person-centered, I thoughtfully integrate elements of behavioral psychology when helpful. This allows us to not only explore emotions and personal meaning, but also examine patterns, habits, and behaviors that may be impacting your well-being. Together, we can develop practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

My goal is to help you deepen self-awareness, build resilience, and move toward a life that feels authentic, balanced, and fulfilling.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, trusting therapeutic relationship. We’ll spend time discussing what brings you to counseling, any concerns or challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

I may ask questions about your personal history, current circumstances, and emotional well-being. There is no pressure to share anything before you’re ready — you are always in control of what you choose to discuss. This session is designed to move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.

We’ll also review important information such as confidentiality, your rights as a client, and the counseling process. If you have questions about therapy, this is a great time to ask them.

By the end of the session, we may begin identifying initial goals or areas of focus. Most importantly, you can expect a respectful, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly and be heard.
