Great to meet you!

I am Shavanna King, and I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My journey into mental health began in 2009, as a nurse, where I have remained since then. I came into healthcare in 2005 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), furthering my education obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Nursing as a RN, and later a Bachelors in Nursing , both degrees from Florida State College at Jacksonville. My Master’s of Science in Nursing, was obtained from Jacksonville University, where I specialized in Psychiatric-Mental Health as a Nurse Practitioner. I am a patient centered provider, with the belief that the patient is the expert on themselves. I feel my position is to partner with you, wherever you are on your journey, provide professional evidence-based information, and assist you with developing treatment planning, goal setting, and symptom relief that is specialized to you. I am very passionate about mental health. I feel now more than ever, there is a responsibility to ensure that people have access to quality mental health care, so I strive to bring this to practice every day.

My approach to therapy

I am a patient centered provider, with the belief that the patient is the ultimate expert on themselves. There will never be anything that anyone or provider can tell you about yourself than what you express from your lived experience. My belief is that incorporating collaboration with individuals in their own treatment and allow for them to have a voice in their care, then the better the outcomes will be. This allows the patient to advocate for themselves while instilling assertiveness, both characteristics that will be beneficial in many aspects of life.

What you can expect from me

My clients can and should expect to walk away feeling empowered, encouraged, and educated on their mental health. I will always strive to provide you with evidenced based information and mental health practice guidelines in your assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning. My personal goal is to always do my best to ensure the patient will always leave my care in a better situation that they arrived.
