Great to meet you!

Hi there! My clinical interests and expertise includes issues related to suicide prevention, suicide bereavement, loss, grief and bereavement, trauma and healing from exposure to a mass violence/mass casualty event. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with issues related to chemical dependency and addiction medicine, identity intersectionality, social justice issues and their impact on mental health and occupational performance, and working with military veterans and military spouses. I also have extensive experience working in high level administrative roles across a wide variety of clinical settings. I have been a mental health professional for nearly 22 years, with more than half of that time being a Ph.D. level Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

My approach to therapy

I approach all of the clinical work I do with cultural humility. I conceptualize my work with each client utilizing an eclectic approach that combines elements of Psychodynamic/Self-Psychological approaches, Motivational Interviewing and with Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approaches and interventions. I do not use a one-size fits all approach to any of the work that I do, and I work collaboratively with each client to meet you where you are at and with an appreciation for the uniqueness and richness that each client presents to therapy with.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I focus on creating a warm and authentic environment for us to connect in. During this time, we will review and discuss legally and ethically required information to ensure that you are able to provide informed consent to treatment. From there, we will spend time getting to know one another, and I will ask you a series of questions to help foster connection and the development of our therapeutic relationship, which helps us to clearly identify what issue(s) are bringing you to seek therapy, why now is the time that you are seeking therapy, and for us to collaboratively develop some specific goals that we will focus on during your course of therapy with me!
