Shawna Sunday

Prior to starting my own practice, my many years of work experience have been in the community mental health organizations, work releases, homeless shelters as well as one of the local Washington State Mental Mealth inpatient facilities, Western State Hospital. I am trained and experienced in mental health and substance-use therapy treatment techniques. I work with individuals ages 14 to 60, couples and will have social skills group therapy classes starting soon for adolescents and adults.

My clinical approach is based on humanistic psychotherapy in an integrative framework. My belief that the relationship between therapist and client is the first key to therapeutic change. I do the best possible to create a therapeutic relationship that is warm and accepting and builds trust so that the client is encouraged to explore in an authentic manner via acceptance, genuineness, and deep understanding of the issues from the client’s point of view.

Each client's experience is different, but one thing that most clients have reported at the end of their session has been one of respect, a deeper understanding of what being heard is like and emotional relief.
