Clients can expect the first session to be focused on understanding them—not rushing into solutions.
I usually start by getting a sense of what brought you in, what you’re hoping to get out of working together, and any immediate concerns you want to address. From there, I’ll ask some guiding questions to learn more about your background, current situation, and what matters most to you. This helps me see the bigger picture, not just a single issue.
It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work. I aim to create a space that feels respectful, collaborative, and straightforward. You won’t be talked at or judged—this is a conversation, and you’re encouraged to share at your own pace. If something feels unclear or uncomfortable, you can say so.
We’ll usually spend part of the session clarifying your goals and what you’d like to focus on moving forward. If it makes sense, we may begin outlining a plan or identifying a few practical next steps, but there’s no pressure to have everything figured out right away.
By the end of the first session, you can expect to have:
- A clearer sense of your priorities
- An understanding of how we might work together
- Initial direction or next steps (if you’re ready for that)
