Great to meet you!

I’m Shazia, a LPC who works with individuals and couples moving through grief, regret, and shame. I earned my degree from the University of Houston, and I spent part of my career in palliative care at Texas Children’s Hospital, where I learned to sit with families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

I often work with people who have lost a loved one, are adjusting to an empty nest, have ended a significant relationship, or carry shame and regret in their roles as adult children, partners, caregivers, or professionals. I also work with clients healing from complex trauma and those trying to reconnect with a sense of purpose after a major life change.

I’m also trained in Gottman-based couples therapy and help partners strengthen their connection, communicate more effectively, and understand how their individual histories show up in the relationship.

As a mother of three and an empty nester myself, I know firsthand that life transitions can bring both loss and the chance to begin again.

My approach to therapy

My work is rooted in respect for the inner child and the parts of us shaped by loss, unmet needs, and painful transitions. I use parts work and inner child healing to help clients understand, and gently change, the patterns of shame, regret, and grief that keep them stuck.

I bring a culturally responsive, trauma-informed lens to every session. Together we can explore how cultural identity, family roles, and generational patterns shape your experience of grief and self-worth, so you can break painful cycles while honoring the values and traditions that matter to you.

Clients often describe my style as empowering and grounding. I combine deep emotional work with practical, coaching-informed tools so you leave sessions feeling supported and capable of real progress. With couples, that means research-informed skills paired with attention to the emotional wounds underneath the conflict.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask what brought you in, what you’re hoping will change, and a bit about your history and the people who matter in your life. You’re welcome to share at whatever pace feels right; there’s no pressure to tell everything at once.

You can expect a non-judgmental, safe space where you feel heard. By the end of the session, we’ll have a sense of your goals and a starting plan for how we’ll work toward them. My hope is that you leave feeling a little lighter and clearer about the next step.
