Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Devann Brown, but I go by my middle name "Shea." I’m here to meet you wherever you are and consider it a privilege to work with you in whatever season of life you are in. I have been an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in the state of Virginia since 2019. My education includes an MS degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2015 at which point I began my residency for licensure as a professional counselor. I have worked in both state-funded and privately owned mental health arenas. I find that my current passion is individual private practice, which is why I am here!

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I believe that effective therapy begins with feeling safe enough to be honest and vulnerable. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as your authentic self, feel genuinely heard, and know that your experiences matter. I will listen with empathy while also helping you identify/challenge patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, gain perspective, and work toward meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

I firmly believe in the power of humor and often try to ensure the session feels safe and comfortable, not some sterile and stuffy environment! I ensure that we also take care of the serious matters and that the balance of humor in sessions is appropriate. If you are looking for a therapist who will genuinely listen, meet you with compassion, and partner with you throughout your journey, I would be honored to work with you!
