Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Shedrick McCall, LPC. I earned a BA in Psychology from Maryville College, an MA in Counseling from Liberty University, and an Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University American School of Professional Psychology.

I have worked in the mental health field for over 25 years as a Juvenile Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist, and Clinician/Counselor for incarcerated youth. I have also worked with patients and clients with clinical mental health diagnoses. In addition, I have experience providing individual, group, and family counseling.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I believe that every individual brings unique experiences, strengths, and resilience into the therapeutic space. My role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to create meaningful change.

I integrate evidence-based therapeutic practices tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from approaches that address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns. I understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, so together we will identify goals and develop strategies that align with your values, lived experiences, and personal strengths.

I place strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, as I believe healing often begins through connection and understanding. Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, or identity-related concerns, I approach therapy at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

My work is grounded in cultural humility, self-awareness, and respect for the whole person. I strive to help clients increase insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward greater emotional balance, personal growth, and overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

Your first therapy session is an opportunity to begin your healing journey in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and understood from the very start.

During our initial session, we will take time to get to know one another and discuss what led you to seek therapy. I invite you to share your concerns, challenges, and goals at a pace that feels right for you. There is no pressure to disclose anything you are not ready to discuss.

I will also ask questions to better understand your emotional, psychological, and life experiences. This information helps me develop an individualized treatment approach tailored to your unique needs and strengths.

Together, we will review important information such as confidentiality, the therapy process, and expectations for ongoing sessions. We will also begin identifying goals and next steps to support your personal growth, healing, and overall well-being.

Above all, you can expect to be met with empathy, professionalism, and collaboration. I view therapy as a partnership, and my role is to support you as you work toward greater clarity, balance, and meaningful change.
