Great to meet you!

My name is Shelbi Petrosius. I attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree in 2019. I work primarily with adult women or women coming into adulthood. I additionally have experience counseling women through the pregnancy and postpartum period. I like to help women to find their self-worth, to set boundaries, and to create the life they've always wanted. My practice is named Aurelia Therapy because an Aurelia is a Chrysalis or the place where butterflies are formed. I hope to offer my clients a space to undergo their own metamorphosis.

My approach to therapy

I utilize an integrated, Rogerian person-centered therapeutic approach and combine cognitive behavior therapy, logotherapy (meaning making), mindfulness-based stress reduction, trauma processing, dialectical behavior therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and positive psychology techniques. Additionally, I offer faith-affirming counseling services.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect warmth, compassion, understanding and tangible tools to take away from the counseling process. Clients can expect to process on a deep level, to challenge negative thoughts, and to make daily shifts to improve their mindset and mood.
