Shelby McDaniel

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with women, and female-identifying clients, (18+) who want to heal their relationship with their bodies and uncover their authentic identity in order to build lasting self-worth and empowerment in all areas of life. I want to help women feel powerful, worthy, and confident and finally shed narratives of shame and perfectionism that hinder self-perception. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Pepperdine University and my Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University. I have had clinical experience in a range of different non-profit, healthcare, and treatment agency settings that provided me with invaluable training to help clients feel empowered and make lasting changes.

I utilize a client-centered approach that focuses on identifying and growing a client's strengths and confidence. I specialize in women's issue, body image/eating disorders, anxiety/perfectionism, and building self-empowerment. I most often use evidence-based practices of CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, through a feminist lens, to help clients challenge default thoughts and behaviors in order to become an ally with their bodies and strengthen self-worth.

I value trust in the therapeutic relationship as the top priority for my clients, so I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is compassionate, empowering, non-judgmental, and even humorous. Asking for help can feel daunting, but I hope to be a safe space for you to become your authentic, powerful self and create the life you deserve.
