Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Dr. Shelley Showalter, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and life transitions. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to reflect, process difficult experiences, and find new ways forward. Clients often describe me as compassionate, warm, and collaborative. My goal is to help you feel understood, gain insight into patterns affecting your experiences, and build practical tools to support growth and resilience.

A little bit about myself: I’ve rescued dogs of many breeds and blends, and they’ve taught me that healing doesn’t look the same for everyone—a belief that guides my approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy

My approach is insight-oriented, integrative, and practical. I integrate evidence-based techniques with a focus on understanding patterns that influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, emphasizing skills you can apply in daily life to create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, we’ll focus on understanding your goals and current challenges. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. Together, we’ll begin exploring patterns that may be contributing to stress or difficulties, and discuss approaches that could work best for you. The session is an opportunity to feel heard, ask questions, and start building a supportive foundation for your work in therapy.
