Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Shengmei ( or Nancy)! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 9 years of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, and families both in the U.S. and internationally. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Wheaton College and have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), trauma-informed care (CCTP), and pre-marital/marital counseling (Prepare/Enrich).

I grew up in East Asia in a culture where mental health carried a heavy stigma. Finding my own path to healing through therapy completely transformed my life and inspired my career. Having lived through cross-cultural moves between Asia and North America—and being in a cross-cultural marriage for 14 years—I deeply understand the challenges of major life transitions, identity struggles, and relationship dynamics. My core practice focuses on helping clients navigate marital distress, parenting issues (as a mom of three energetic boys, I know how wild that ride can be!), trauma, mood disorders, and attachment patterns. I offer services in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in warmth, authenticity, and cross-cultural empathy. I blend person-centered care with attachment theory, trauma-informed perspectives, and experiential techniques. I believe true healing happens within secure, trusting relationships.

Together, we will gently explore past relationship trauma, family dynamics, and underlying attachment patterns that might be keeping you feeling stuck. By focusing on your here-and-now emotions and thought processes, we can unpack your struggles safely and help you build stronger, healthier connections with yourself and the people you love.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a soft place to land. My priority in our first session is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel truly seen and heard.

We’ll spend our time getting to know each other at a pace that feels comfortable to you. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your unique life story, and what you hope to achieve. You don't need to have all the answers mapped out—we’ll work together to clarify your goals and build a clear, collaborative path forward for your therapeutic journey.
