I'm Sherri Crespin, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in complex mental health conditions in adults. With dual board certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring a comprehensive understanding of how mental and physical health intersect to create truly holistic care.

My clinical expertise includes treating trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and bipolar disorder. I'm experienced in managing complex medication regimens and other specialized treatments that require careful monitoring and expertise.

I earned both my Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based practice. What sets my practice apart is my commitment to treating the whole person—not just managing symptoms, but understanding your unique story, challenges, and goals.

Whether you're seeking psychiatric medication management or comprehensive treatment for multiple conditions, I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can openly discuss your concerns and actively shape your treatment plan. I also provide ESA letters when clinically appropriate.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward improved mental health and lasting well-being.

My approach to therapy

I believe exceptional psychiatric care demands clinical expertise, genuine emotional awareness, and a deep commitment to treating every person with dignity and warmth. My philosophy is centered on the principle that you deserve care that is meticulous, personally crafted, and delivered with true kindness. I am here to stand with you fully as you move through your mental health journey and reach for greater wellbeing.

I strive to learn your history, present challenges, inherent strengths, core values, treatment concerns, and goals for growth. This thorough understanding empowers me to offer care authentically shaped around your unique circumstances. I cultivate a secure, nonjudgmental environment where you can talk openly about your experiences and your hopes for what lies ahead.

When it comes to medication management, I prioritize genuine partnership and comprehensive education. I review treatment recommendations transparently—sharing the reasoning behind different options, how medications function, expected advantages, and side effects to remain aware of. I want you to feel like a knowledgeable participant in your care, prepared to make choices that honor your values and individual preferences.

Finding the ideal medication path sometimes requires recalibration, and I am here to walk you through that process with patience and compassion. I connect with you regularly about how things are progressing and apply changes when they are needed. I place full trust in what you report about your own condition—you are the leading authority on your lived experience.

Beyond medication, I look into the elements that bear on mental health, including sleep habits, stress burden, relational dynamics, and resilience strategies. My aim is helping you reclaim steadiness, hope, and purposeful engagement in your daily life. I am here to bring the devoted support and expert care you genuinely deserve. Every step forward is one we take as a team.

What you can expect from me

Your first visit is dedicated to forming a partnership centered on your healing and growth. We will start with what weighs on you most—whether that is overwhelming anxiety, lingering depression, mood fluctuations, difficulty with focus, or any other mental health concern diminishing your quality of life.

We will explore how your symptoms appear in everyday life—perhaps struggling to get out of bed, persistent worrying, emotional unpredictability, or trouble concentrating on tasks that matter. I will review your mental health history, including when you first sensed something was not right, what approaches you have pursued, and your previous medication experiences. I will ask about past medications—what proved helpful and what unwanted effects you faced. We will also discuss your overall health, current prescriptions, family history of psychiatric conditions, daily routines, and sources of stress.

When exploring medication options, I prioritize straightforward communication and shared decision-making. I will explain how medications function, which symptoms they target, what to anticipate regarding benefits and timelines, and potential side effects. I will be candid about what is well supported by evidence and what carries some uncertainty—identifying the right medication frequently involves thoughtful fine-tuning. We will address your concerns openly, whether they relate to specific medications, worries about side effects, or reservations about psychiatric medication as a whole.

I emphasize that medication is most effective alongside comprehensive strategies, including healthy lifestyle changes and sound stress management. You will leave with a personalized treatment plan and the assurance that someone is genuinely invested in your wellness. I stay accessible between appointments and am here to support you at every stage. Taking this first step is a true act of courage, and I am deeply honored to walk this path beside you. You belong here.
