I'm Sherri Crespin, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in complex mental health conditions in adults. With dual board certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring a comprehensive understanding of how mental and physical health intersect to create truly holistic care.

My clinical expertise includes treating trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and bipolar disorder. I'm experienced in managing complex medication regimens and other specialized treatments that require careful monitoring and expertise.

I earned both my Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based practice. What sets my practice apart is my commitment to treating the whole person—not just managing symptoms, but understanding your unique story, challenges, and goals.

Whether you're seeking psychiatric medication management or comprehensive treatment for multiple conditions, I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can openly discuss your concerns and actively shape your treatment plan. I also provide ESA letters when clinically appropriate.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward improved mental health and lasting well-being.

My approach to therapy

Exceptional psychiatric care, in my view, requires a combination of clinical skill, emotional intelligence, and a genuine commitment to honoring every patient's dignity. I hold myself to the standard that you deserve care that's careful, personalized, and infused with real kindness. I'm fully present to support you as you work through your mental health challenges toward better wellbeing.

I make it a priority to understand your background, current difficulties, natural strengths, core values, worries about treatment, and what growth means to you. This deeper understanding lets me provide care that's genuinely tailored to your specific life. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you feel free to discuss your experiences and future hopes honestly.

For medication management, partnership and education take center stage. I'm transparent about my recommendations, explaining the reasoning behind different choices, how each medication functions, what benefits to expect, and side effects to monitor. My hope is that you feel informed and empowered, ready to make decisions that align with what matters most to you.

Sometimes the path to the right medication involves some trial and adjustment, and I'll be there guiding you through that with patience and understanding. We'll check in regularly on your progress and make changes whenever they're called for. I value your firsthand account of your own experience; ultimately, you know your life better than anyone else does.

Beyond just prescriptions, I explore factors influencing your mental health, like sleep quality, stress levels, relationship patterns, and coping skills. What I'm working toward is helping you regain stability, hope, and meaningful involvement in your everyday life. I'm committed to offering you the dedicated, expert support you deserve, with every advancement being something we accomplish together as partners.

What you can expect from me

Your initial appointment focuses on establishing a genuine partnership dedicated to your growth and healing. We'll begin by addressing whatever concerns you most, whether that's crushing anxiety, persistent depression, unpredictable moods, focus problems, or any other mental health issue affecting your quality of life.

We'll examine how your symptoms manifest day-to-day, perhaps making it hard to get out of bed, causing constant worry, creating emotional volatility, or interfering with your concentration on important tasks. I'll review your mental health background, including when you first noticed something felt wrong, what you've tried previously, and your history with medications. I'll ask about past medications, what proved beneficial and any unwanted effects you dealt with. We'll also cover your general health, current prescriptions, any family history of psychiatric conditions, daily habits, and stress sources.

When discussing medication possibilities, clear communication and joint decision-making take priority. I'll explain how different medications work, which symptoms they address, what benefits and timeframes to expect, and possible side effects. I'll be honest about what science strongly supports versus what remains uncertain, since finding the right medication often takes thoughtful adjustment over time. We'll discuss your concerns openly, whether about particular medications, side effect worries, or general hesitations about psychiatric medications.

I stress that medication works best combined with comprehensive strategies, including positive lifestyle changes and effective stress management. You'll leave with a personalized plan and confidence that someone genuinely cares about your wellness. I remain available between sessions, ready to support you throughout the process. Taking this initial step demonstrates genuine courage, and it's truly an honor to accompany you on this journey. You belong here.
