Great to meet you!

I began my career as a Navy Nurse in 1995 where I obtained inpatient psychiatric experience. I went back to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2008. Over the years I have provided medication management to patients in the outpatient setting. I decided to go back to school to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2023. I did this so I could also provide therapy for patients. Medication is often helpful, but I also appreciate the impact of therapy on patients and families.

My approach to therapy

I am open, empowering, and encourage introspection. I lean toward the use of both Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I have seen significant benefit from use of the Family Systems approach as discussed in the book "The Body Keeps Score" by Bessel van der Kolk, MD.

The world is difficult, we get beat up enough day to day. Therapy should be a safe space. I believe patients benefit from leaving each therapy session empowered and encouraged.

What you can expect from me

The goal of therapy is to discuss difficult issues with a focus on collecting coping skills like tools in our tool belt. We will also find a reason to celebrate each week and set goals for the upcoming week.
